Avoriaz, a car-free resort perched at 1,800 m in the Portes du Soleil area, is known for its integrated architecture and 650 km of pistes linking France and Switzerland. Access is exclusive: cable car from Les Prodains or the road up from Morzine.
The route
From Geneva, the A40 motorway via Cluses, then the Dranse valley to Morzine before the final climb to Les Prodains. About 1h50 outside peak weekend traffic.
When to book
Ideal for family ski stays, snowboarding and freestyle at The Stash, or the Rock the Pistes festival in March. Roof box and snow chains available on request.
