Geneva to Val d'Isère Transfer: Route, Travel Time and Tips

Val d'Isère, at 1,850 m at the head of the Tarentaise, forms the vast Espace Killy with Tignes. Famous for its long season (glacier skiing), it is reached from Geneva by a mostly motorway journey followed by a scenic climb. Here is the exact route, the real travel time, and tips by season.

The Geneva — Val d'Isère route

From Geneva Airport, you take the motorway towards Annecy, Chambéry and Albertville. From there, the Tarentaise road (N90) climbs the valley to Moûtiers and then Bourg-Saint-Maurice. The final climb leads to Val d'Isère on the high-mountain road.

Total distance: ≈ 225 km, mostly motorway to Albertville, then valley and mountain road.

How long does it take?

Allow about 2h45 outside traffic. It is one of the deepest resorts in the Tarentaise; on changeover Saturdays in high season, plan a comfortable margin.

Long season and glacier

Val d'Isère is one of the resorts that opens early and closes late, thanks to the Pissaillas glacier. The private transfer runs all year, including for autumn and spring skiing and events (Critérium de la Première Neige in December).
